Frederick Douglasss Fourth of July Speech is the most famous speech delivered by the abolitionist and civilian rights advocate Frederick Douglass. It attracted a crowd of between five hundred and six hundred. Douglasss speech to the slaves on the Fourth of July served to show the slaves that there is nonhing for them to celebrate. They were not free and the independence that the rest of the sphere celebrated did not apply to them. In his speech he tries to make white people consider the carriage of black people. Specially their feelings towards a national occasion such as Independence Day. At the time of Douglasss speech America were actually deuce different nations, white and black.
